You make a difference in the world even if you’re not paying attention.
Have you ever heard of the ripple effect? That one small ripple made in the water goes on and on and on?
Well, let me tell you that it is real. I was recently blown away by this realization and another.
I’ll get to the ripple effect in a minute but first let me share the second realization – that life is like a merry go round.
We go round and round on a journey of remembering and forgetting and remembering again.
Remembering who we are and what is true and important one moment….
And then forgetting the next moment as we fall into the trap of worry and self-doubt.
Then another moment of clarity awakens that sense of deep gratitude for our life and our work….
And round and round we go in the circle game …. (did I make that up or are those words from a song??)
So, last week when I was “forgetting” and wallowing in some self-doubt, a coaching friend called me out of the blue.
She wanted me to know she shared a breathing technique from a video I posted on Facebook with her client.
Here’s where that ripple effect comes in.
Her client then shared it with her co-workers, who are sharing it with their friends and family.
And on and on…
Needless to say I was blown away and immediately ‘remembered’ again.
Remembered that what I say matters, what I do matters, who I choose to be matters ….
In essence, I matter.
And just like me, my friend, you matter.
Trust me when I say that you make a difference in the world just by being your unique, beautiful, and totally awesome self, even if you don’t always see it.
So, rather than being frustrated and disappointed with ourselves for sometimes (or often times!) forgetting,
Let’s celebrate each time this week that we remember and reconnect to what matters most.
