Do you often feel frustrated with yourself because you’ve been staring at your problems for way too long without taking action?

Let me share with you one common mistake that may be keeping you stuck and one secret to successful change.

First, the mistake that is keeping you stuck is…. drum roll please….

the all or nothing mindset.

I know it trips me up every time I think about making a change in my life.

It basically says, if you can’t do it all, and do it all perfectly from the start, you might as well just give up.

Or worse yet, don’t even bother trying.

Can you relate to this really discouraging voice in your head? If so, let me share that secret that will help you shift to a more positive mindset.

The secret is to celebrate your successes!

This means to focus only on what’s going well.

And this takes intentional effort because our default habit is to focus on what’s going wrong.

As I like to say our brains are Velcro for the negative and Teflon for the positive.

But, I want you to think about how we teach children to walk. We cheer, give hugs and kisses, and do whatever we can to inspire them.

And, when they fall down – we don’t just tell them they failed and give up on them – we encourage them to get back up and try again.

There is no shame, no reprimands, only pure love and encouragement.

So, what would it be like to make a change in your life from a place of pure love and encouragement, rather than beating yourself up?

I bet you’ll find it feels really good and actually motivates you to try new things!
